William G. Hibbard started out as a
hardware salesman. In 1855 he started his own company, merging with
his former employer, Brown & Tuttle Hardware. Hibbard's business
grew rapidly and soon he had his own company. Spencer and Bartlett
later joined him, thus the HSB & Company.
HSB manufactured and sold all sorts of hardware including tricycles.
The "Our Very Best" line was one of their house brands and a leading
seller.
HSB & Co. was sold to Cotter & Co. in 1962.
Notable Features:
Below is an HSB & Co. headbadge for their signature OVB line of
tricycles. These tricycles are quite rare.
